Finished!
The last of the mini quiltlets are done and now soaking to remove the marks. After they’re dry they’ll get numbered and randomly distributed to my students. Here are the last few.
Here they are all together…
And all cut into individual little quilts, ready to go into the cold water soak.
Next time you see them will be after my students have added the color.
Now I’m back to work on my appliqué!
Almost Done
I actually finished quilting all the little mini quilts. Next step is to cut them apart and soak them to get the marks out. After drying, they’ll be ready for my students to add the color. Now I can get back to my appliqué!
I’ll share a few more of the mini’s now and post the rest of them tomorrow. The light is bad…it’s raining here. They are really bright white just like the others.
That’s it until tomorrow!
Silks
My order from Dharma always includes dyes, paints, and fixers. OK, and usually some fabric too. This order had some of my favorites; a cotton/silk blend. If you’ve never seen this, it is yummy! One side has the silky sheen, and the other the matte of cotton. It cuts, sews and quilts as easy as cotton, and OMG…how beautifully it takes dyes! Even though it is a silk blend, I still use Procion dyes with beautiful results. One of the interesting aspects of the blend is that with some colors you actually end up with a different look on each side.
And my other fabric this time was silk dupioni…love, love, love that stuff. And it also dyes like a dream. Oh, and don’t worry, I got ample yardage of both! (:>).
Next time we have a cool day I plan to do a little dyeing!
Harry’s all wet….
While we were having dinner tonight, we heard this big splash; Harry fell in the pool…again! Probably jumping up the screen after a lizard. It always amazes me too, that he never gets his head wet when he falls in…never! That boy must hit the water swimming!
He sure does look pretty pathetic when he climbs out though….Poor Harry!
oops, forgot to fix the red eye from the flash. Oh well, it adds to the overall pathetic look, LOL!
I’m still working on the mini’s
Slowly but surely. I’m sure glad I limited the number of students in this class! The main designs went very quickly, thanks to my circle lord. The background fill, is a different story! But slow and steady wins the race, so they say and I’m making headway…gradually.
Want a peek? I thought you would.
I’m obviously still working on that last one. And just as a size reference, each of these little quiltlets is 12 inches square.
Back to work, or I’ll never get done!
Mail Call
The mail has been good to me this week. First, our family postcard for October, from Mary.
And a postcard from Jami for the MQR “salt & pepper” swap.
They are both great! Thanks Mary and Jami.
And then my long awaited diamond die from Accuquilt.
I already have the fabric to use this one! I love 60 degree diamonds for backgrounds.
Did you get anything interesting in the mail?
A quiet day
We had a cool front come through last night, first one of the season. Today was a nice change, the high was only 78. The next couple days will be nice. But then we’ll warm back up to our normal. Chloe & Harry were thrilled that all the doors were open to the lanai and the front courtyard!
I spent my day working on the background fills of the mini’s for my class and I also got some appliqué stitching done.
It’s coming along nicely, and I just love all the color….thanks to Vicki’s beautiful fabrics.
All in all, a productive day.
